About
The BCS Greater Heights Clubhouse is a community-based rehab program for Brooklynites living with mental illness. While all members in the program have a history of mental illness, many of our members also face barriers like chemical dependency, illiteracy, housing and job insecurity. Members work through these challenges in our program, gaining greater self-esteem and fighting the stigma and social isolation associated with psychiatric illness.
Our unique, collaborative model allows members and staff to work side by side to run the daily operations of the Clubhouse, gaining essential life-skills that help participants in all areas of life. This clubhouse is accredited by Clubhouse International, which works to help people with mental illness achieve their social, financial, educational, and vocational goals.

Day-to-Day Programming:
Clubhouse programming is divided into three areas: education & employment, food service, and administrative tasks. Clubhouse members work alongside staff members during normal working hours so they can become prepared for independent living and future employment.
Daily Schedule:
- Breakfast
- Morning meetings
- Work in units (education & employment, food service or administrative tasks)
- Lunch
- Afternoon unit meetings
- Recreation
Transitional Employment Program:
The Clubhouse connects members with paid, entry level jobs across a variety of industries and guides them through the job-hunting process.
Enrollment & Eligibility
Eligibility Requirements
To become a member you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have an Axis 1 Diagnosis of a major mental illness (schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, or depression)
- Be able to travel independently to the Clubhouse
*Membership is 100% voluntary
How to enroll
Please provide at least one of the following documents:
(Note: Documents must be current and written within 3-6 months of intake.)
- Letter of attestation from a licensed therapist or medical/social work professional confirming mental health diagnosis
- Psychiatric and psychosocial evaluation
- A current physical exam and PPD result is also recommended.

Come take a tour
The GHC offers open enrollment/tours daily from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. No need to sign up, simply drop in and learn about all the Clubhouse has to offer.
