BCS works in neighborhoods impacted by systemic poverty. We believe all Brooklynites should have the resources, education, opportunities, and safety they need to thrive.

Welcome to Brooklyn Community Services

With over 50 award-winning programs and 28 locations across Brooklyn, BCS serves over 20,000 individuals in need annually. We empower Brooklyn residents to maximize their potential, serving low income Brooklynites of all ages: from early childhood to adults in their senior years. We strengthen communities by fostering the educational success of children, the leadership development of youth, the employment and housing stability of adults, the advancement of individuals living with disabilities, and the empowerment of seniors and families.

Meet Chyanne Cooper a member of our O’Dwyer Gardens Cornerstone team! This center in Coney Island serves senior adults and children with enriching social and recreational programming.
Chyanne is a Coney Island local and participated in the center’s after-school dance program as a youngster. When this position opened up, she leapt at the chance to give back to the O’Dwyer community.
“I see some of [our members] in passing, and it’s really good to see that they remember me. It’s a positive mark,” Chyanne says. She finds it especially rewarding when kids who have aged out of the after-school program reach out to her down the road and tell her what the experience meant to them.
Keep up the great work, Chyanne!

These kiddos had a blast shooting hoops with @brooklynnets themselves! Youngsters in our after-school programs got to attend the team’s holiday party at Barclays Center and get an inside look at pro basketball life. Go Nets!

Today, we commemorate all of the brave individuals who have lost their lives while protecting our country. Military service requires immense strength and sacrifice, and we are endlessly grateful for those who choose to devote themselves to this cause.

Have a green thumb? Brooklyn is overflowing with community gardens, which have long been hubs for farming, community organizing, environmental justice, and more! We love that so many of our programs take advantage of this green space and help show members the value of urban agriculture.

Meet Pierre Clarke, a participant in our Supported Employment Program! He’s been involved with BCS for over 17 years now and has been honored on multiple occasions for his dedication to his work.
Pierre loves cleaning and is happy to have a part-time job where he gets to mop bathrooms, sweep floors, and keep his company’s office space tidy. He credits BCS with boosting his confidence, helping him find and secure different cleaning jobs, and giving him opportunities to network and meet new people in his field.
Thank you for all your hard work, Pierre!
