Welcome to Brooklyn Community Services

With over 50 award-winning programs and 28 locations across Brooklyn, BCS serves over 20,000 individuals in need annually. We empower Brooklyn residents to maximize their potential, serving low income Brooklynites of all ages: from early childhood to adults in their senior years. We strengthen communities by fostering the educational success of children, the leadership development of youth, the employment and housing stability of adults, the advancement of individuals living with disabilities, and the empowerment of seniors and families.

Meet Jamell, a participant in our Community Based Prevocational Program! For the last 15 years, he’s lived in a BCS-operated Supportive Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA), where he enjoys spending time with friends, playing video games, and participating in the IRA’s recreational activities.

Jamell aspires to live on his own and says that Prevocational has helped him improve his independent living skills. In the program, he’s gotten the chance to work at Cookie’s department store and try out different kinds of jobs that interest him, plus make plenty of new friends. Keep it up, Jamell!
