The BCS Education Center is gearing up for The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). SYEP, which is funded by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), is the nation’s largest youth employment program. SYEP gives NYC youth and young adults, ages 14 to 24, the opportunity to explore different careers with paid work experience each summer. Participants get to try out different jobs that align with their interests while cultivating their social, civic and leadership skills in a safe, supportive environment.
Applications for Summer 2023 are now open! Visit application.nycsyep.com, select BCS as your provider, and enter the PIN: WPA190455. The application is due by Friday, March 31st.
“It is important for youth to get first hand work experience in different industries. Our goal at BCS as an SYEP Provider is to be a connecting bridge between local businesses/organizations and local youth. Having professionals mentor youth, especially at this age, really sets their foundation about what good work ethic looks like. SYEP teaches youth transferable skills, management, and the ability to earn money while having fun.”
-Zolanlly Brunson, Program Director
“My favorite season working at BCS is during the summer because that is when the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) happens. There are a lot of moving parts involved in SYEP. You get to meet new interns and new people that are interested in becoming a worksite for the interns.”
-Mykala Phillips, Interim Program Director
