The Health, Housing, and Homelessness Solutions Division provides equitable access to resources, healthcare, and housing for all. Programs in this division address the wide gap between those who have access to their basic needs and those who do not. From mobile HIV testing to mobile showers, our programs help us achieve our mission of a Brooklyn that addresses systemic inequities at their root cause.
BCS Young Women’s Shelter
The Turning Point Young Adult Transitional Shelter is a 39-bed transitional shelter in Sunset Park, Brooklyn for homeless young women, ages 18 to 25. The shelter empowers women to obtain permanent housing and helps them develop the independent living skills necessary for life beyond the shelter. Residents gain access to a variety of services such as independent living skills workshops, individual and group counseling, and assistance in securing permanent housing. The shelter also partners with other BCS/Turning Point programs to give residents the resources they need: from connecting residents with the TPBK Education Center to get their High School Equivalency Diplomas, to directing them to our Greater Heights Clubhouse to address chronic mental illness.
