We couldn’t do this work without the dedication, heart, and hustle of our BCS staff. 💙 We loved getting the chance to come together for our Annual Staff Appreciation party to celebrate the incredible people who show up for Brooklyn every single day.

January is Poverty Awareness Month, a time to reflect on what poverty really means and how it shows up in our communities.
Poverty isn’t just about income. It’s about access to food, housing, healthcare, education, and the ability to live with dignity. In Brooklyn, nearly one in four residents experiences poverty, and that reality touches families, seniors, youth, and individuals across every neighborhood.
At BCS, we work every day to meet these needs through food distributions, mental health support, disability services, after-school programs, and community-based care.
Poverty may be complex, but community response makes a real difference. 💙

Brooklyn is home to nearly 700 arts and cultural institutions, each one helping shape the creativity, history, and identity of our borough. 🎭🎨
At BCS, we believe access to art, culture, and creative expression is essential to building strong, connected communities. That’s why our programs create space for learning, storytelling, and belonging across Brooklyn.
Do you have a favorite art or cultural institution in Brooklyn?

Our BCS CHAMP(s) are setting their 2026 goals and sticking to them this year! 🎯
Our Community Health and Mindfulness Program (CHAMP) held its Becoming: Vision Board Brunch, where members clarified their goals and visualized their success for the year ahead. And we don’t know about you, but all that planning just hits better over a light bite!
We are excited to support our members` goals and watch them grow both personally and professionally. Have you had a chance to dream big for the year ahead? Share a goal with us in the comments below 💙

January marks National Blood Donor Month, and NYC consistently faces blood shortages, typically operating on only a two-day supply.
Brooklyn’s diversity makes blood donation increasingly essential. 🩸
Donating blood helps ensure patients, especially those living with sickle cell disease, receive the blood type match they need.
Looking for ways to give back to your community and have a pint or two to spare? One blood donation can save up to three lives! 💙
