This free family event will feature sculptors ranging from professional to amateur artists, music, entertainment, free giveaways and more.
Brooklyn Community Services and the Alliance For Coney Island have teamed up again to host the 29th Annual Coney Island Sand Sculpting Contest on Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 12 PM to 4PM. Each year this fun-filled event, which is free to participants and spectators, attracts over 10,00 visitors to Coney Island’s Historic Riegelmann Boardwalk. Open to all ages, participants range from amateur to semi-professionals with prizes given out in four categories: Family, Individual Adult, Adult Group and People’s Choice.
Attracting both local and national media attention, including Good Morning America and the Associated Press the Sand Sculpting Contest has grown to be one of Coney Island’s most anticipated events. After Super Storm Sandy hit, Astella teamed up with Brooklyn Community Services to create and carry out initiatives to serve Coney Island residents’ needs. This year’s sponsors include Luna Park, Liberty Coca Cola and Honest Tea.
