Jodie Patterson Talks Empowerment with Youth at Brooklyn Leadership
Brooklyn Community Services provides educational programs and activities to students (K-12). We work to provide a greater opportunity for children and youth to succeed in future academic, social and economic endeavors. We partner with people in our community who volunteer, mentor and share their personal stories to help empower students to tap into their unique purpose and pursue their goals.
Jodie Patterson is a powerhouse who has led many successful careers in publishing, music, fashion, PR and Beauty. She is a Social Activist, Entrepreneur and Writer, who serves on multiple boards, participates in speaking engagements around the country, media interviews and has a book coming out in early 2019 titled, “A Bold New World: A Memoir of Family and Identity.” BCS’s partnership with Jodie began in 2016 through her participation in the ONE Brooklyn Community MTA Public Education Campaign. Since that time, Jodie has been an advocate of our work and has participated in numerous projects. Recently, Jodie visited with students at Brooklyn High School for Leadership and Community Service. She shared her personal journey with students and the valuable lessons she learned along the way. It was truly a powerful and inspirational conversation for students, teachers and BCS staff.
We believe at BCS that sharing personal stories can be transformational and especially meaningful for young people in underserved neighborhoods. Take a few minutes to watch.
